Lilacs have that distinct smell, when you get a big whiff of them it’s almost like ie it teleports you to another era, besides the fact that they are so beautiful and romantic. There are more uses for them then you probably thought, they are an edible flower, you can use them to decorate cakes and cookies, used as a beverage, you can make tea and flavored water, wine and cordials, they make beautiful jelly, honey and syrup, they can be used in soap making and  facial products and also used for medicinal purposes. Here are some that I thought were interesting https://www.mynaturaltreatment.com/health-benefits-of-lilac-flowers-uses/#6_Natural_Remedies_with_Lilac_Flowers  Lilac is also said to cleanse parasites from the intestines , reduce fever and to keep diseases from reoccurring. Of course its always good to do your own research and note that some people have allergies to to some herbs and flowers, Lilacs are of the olive family, so if you are allergic to olives, chances are you are allergic to lilacs.

This is a salad I made last night for dinner. It was so good and looked amazing!

Blueberry Lilac Green Salad with Blueberry Poppyseed Dressing

Ingredients:

Torn romaine Lettuce

Baby Spinach

Chopped cucumber

Fresh Blueberries (for salad and dressing)

Handful of fresh picked Lilac blossoms

Chopped pecan and dried blueberry salad topping

Store bought poppyseed salad dressing

To make:

Tear as much Romaine as you think you will need I usually do about 1 cup per person.

Add in baby Spinach, about a cup per person.

Add Cucumber and blueberries, I put in 1/2 cup of each, but you can customize it to your liking.

Mix 1 cup of salad dressing to a blender and add 1/4 cup of blueberries, blend until mixed.

Divide onto serving dishes, drizzle with the blueberry poppyseed dressing and top with pecan mix and lilac blossoms.

We have a few lilac trees on our property, we are going to be selling dried lilac blossoms these can be used  for culinary and medicinal purposes on the website starting next week. I am planning on getting some cuttings and having them for sale also.
